SRO Theater’s Performing Learning Aspiring Youth (PLAY) program is proud to announce its upcoming production of A Rock 'n Roll Midsummer Night's Dream. This musical adaptation blends Shakespeare’s classic comedy with the iconic sounds of the 1950s, as student performers explore the music of their grandparents’ generation through a high-energy, hilarious performance.

Synopsis: Set at Athens High School, the story follows the complications that arise when Principal Theseus orders Hermia to marry Demetrius, despite her love for Lysander. The star-crossed lovers flee to the forest, followed by a jealous Demetrius and a lovelorn Helena.

In the woods, they encounter Oberon and Titania—leaders of the forest’s "Greasers" and "Pink Ladies"—who are in the midst of their own quarrel. With the help of the mischievous Puck and a magic flower, a series of mistaken identities and sudden romances ensue. Meanwhile, Bottom the head janitor and his crew of tradesmen are rehearsing a play for the Principal’s wedding when Puck transforms Bottom into a donkey, leading to even more magical chaos.
